This is a funny story about a misunderstanding that led to something unexpected.
.
In 2015, while collaborating with Scale75, I received a brief for a knight with a sword, armor and a shoulder pad with a dragon.
In my mind, that meant a knight and a dragon together as part of the composition. But I couldn't figure out how to make both characters feel important while fitting everything into a 75 mm scale.
So I sketched a version with a lion companion instead, as an alternative proposal.
Only later did I find out that they had actually wanted a dragon on the knight's shoulder pad!
.
The funny part is that they loved the lion concept so much that it became the version chosen for production.

Sometimes translation challenges can lead to surprisingly good ideas.
